Conception of the Kloakedoke...
As many parents know, life with children can get very hectic at times. My challenge seemed to be trying to get out the door on time.
When our daughter Molly started pre-school a few years ago, I would drop her off and pick her up with her younger brother Liam in tow. To make a long story short, I found puffy, winter coats and car seats to be an uncomfortable, cumbersome and a time consuming match. To make life easier and faster, I started carrying Liam (who was 8 months at the time) out the door with a blanket wrapped around his shoulders and then would drape the blanket over him in the car seat. We were both much happier because I was not trying to stuff him in his straps with a bulging puffy coat. Ins and Outs were far easier this way. The blanket however, had its draw backs. It was large and not very attractive looking. So I approached my sister Lauren with my problem and my simplistic design idea that I hoped would solve it. She is the mother of 3 older boys and just so happens to be a wiz on the sewing machine. She coupled our combined vision with her artistic flair to turn my dilemma into the very first Kloakedoke prototype. Though simple in its design, the prototype went above and beyond my expectations (she rocks!).
After further modifications for style, comfort and practicality, we had a product that diminished my daily struggle with getting to and from destinations. I used it all winter long and loved it. Not only that, our children loved it too. Because of the many positive reactions from parents while we were out and about, my sister and I decided that our practical children's outerwear should be available to everyone. Behold Kloakedoke designs was up and running and our dining room tables became places for Kloakedoke material and sewing machines. We hope our ideas will help many and our home -made products will put happy faces on parents and children. We have expanded our business making unique baby blankets and adorable hats as well. Plus, we have beautiful adult wraps that are also reversible and perfect for the woman on the go. As for our future, we have on the burner many other ideas for Kloakedoke products including Kloakedoke raincoats. So keep a look out for WhyLi, our cute, little bear!!!! |
